URA-Redas Spark Challenge: Read 'n' Rest

Using the the primer Project as a foundation, i submitted the work that i did to the URA competition, with a simpler design and using only one modular design instead. when doing my primer project, i wanted to create a temporary structure that can be used for a book exchange space, a look see deck, as well as a interaction space.

The space i wanted to create was also a comfort zone, in the midst of the fast-paced environments of Singapore. hence, i built a modular design, which had a lower ceiling height to feel like they are in a isolated environment. to create the idea that this design is easy to construct and disassemble, i based the design on shipping crates, which are commonly shipping and moved around everyday. i even made the furniture within the spaces out of shipping crates as well.

while i submitted for the competition, i did not manage to win anything, but i was able to learn about modularity in architecture, and how i can use that to my advantage in my design in the future.

this was a simple diagram to show where our site was, and what buildings are around the site.

1.6m Module

I focused on this module when i submitted the project for the URA competition, as this has the most versatile use among the 3 modules.
